You’ve spent all month honoring No Shave November; If you plan on keeping your new facial hair, now is the time to learn how to properly care for it. We spoke with traditional barber Samantha Keltner for some advice on how to maintain a beard filled with ENVY!
Invest in the Right Products
Products that will hydrate but enhance the styling of the beard are going to help keep the hairs and the skin looking healthy beyond No Shave November. Applying a beard oil at least once a day will treat the hairs and the skin simultaneously. If you like a smoother, textured beard you can use a hairdryer and a brush to relax the texture.
BBBB (Boar Bristle Bears Brush)
To start a good beard, you will want to invest in a boar bristle beard brush. Brushing your beard area daily will exfoliate the skin and stimulate blood circulation which is what allows the hairs to grow. Constant brushing helps keep the itchiness at bay since it will be exfoliated off.
Washing Your Beard
The best way to wash your beard is to wet the hairs and use a beard-specific wash. After washing you can use a beard-specific conditioner if you feel the hairs and skin are extra dry. Then you will want to use your beard oil while the hairs are still damp. Applying when damp will allow for the oil to be absorbed and locked into the hairs as they are drying. You will want to fully wash your beard every 2-3 days.
